7 Time Saving Tips For Working Moms

Working moms have the busiest schedules, making it feel like there isn’t enough time to get everything done. Who couldn’t use a few extra hours in the day to finish the endless to-do lists that are battling for our attention? While it is impossible to add hours to your day, here are 7 time-saving tips to make your life a little less hectic.

Get enough sleep

It may be a cliché but getting enough sleep can allow you to start your day right and drastically improve your productivity. Otherwise, you will feel tired and waste more time throughout the day. Schedule sleep into your day like any other activity, so you can get enough hours of sleep at night to function productively the next day. Do not underestimate the importance of sleep.

It may be hard to let go of control and let someone handle a task, but it is also necessary. You are not giving up; you are maximizing your potential. While you could probably get everything on your “to-do” list done, delegating allows you to focus on the tasks at hand while your other tasks are being done by trusted people, saving hours in your day to relax and spend time with your family.

Prep the night before

Getting yourself and your kids out the door in the morning can be a struggle. To save some time in the morning, prepare as much as you can the night before. Small things like laying out your and your kids’ clothes and packing backpacks and lunches can save so much time and lower stress levels in the morning.

Meal prep on the weekend

Take some time on Sunday to cook dinner for the week. When you come home late or super tired one night, you don’t have to worry about spending an hour or more cooking for your kids. You can heat up your already-prepared meal within minutes and use that time to spend with your family.

Let go of perfection

Perfection doesn’t exist, so it is a waste of time to try and achieve it. Instead of obsessing over every tiny detail or working toward impractical ideals like being the “perfect” mom, find more productive uses of your valuable time.

Say “No”

Many moms try to be everything for everybody, and not only does it stress them out but also it’s not possible. You don’t have to go to every office event, volunteer for every committee, or sign your kids up for every extracurricular. If you prioritize what’s important for your family, it allows you to save time for more important things.

Ask for help

Don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it. Everyone needs help every now and then. If it’s within your budget, hire a nanny to watch the kids, so you can have some time to work or take a well-deserved break.
